HHS Students Attend FBLA State Convention

The FBLA State Leadership Conference was held in Reston, Virginia, on April 13th & 14th, 2018.   Five members of the Holston High School FBLA Club attended the conference with their sponsors, Ms. Rose and Mr. Campbell.  Holston High School attendees were senior – Jake C., juniors – Marissa S. & Eric R., and sophomores – Austin F. & Morgan W.

When asked to recap their trip to our nation's capital, Jake C. had the following reflection.  “I experienced many new things on my FBLA trip to Washington D.C.  We went to the capital and also toured the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.  I didn't realize how large and interesting these places were.  We also attended a professional baseball game.  The Washington Nationals stadium was magnificent and our seating was along the first baseline.  We went to the Tysons Corner Mall, where I got to experience virtual reality and I also sat in a $120,000 Tesla prototype automobile.”  Jake’s FBLA peer, Austin F., felt that the D.C. trip was a fun experience for everyone and that he especially enjoyed touring the city.

Junior Eric R. competed in the Client Service category and finished 3rd in the State of Virginia.  He is now qualified for the National Finals in Baltimore on June 29-30.  Eric had the following statement to add about his trip to Washington.  “My trip to the FBLA state convention is something I'll always remember.  Being able to compete against my peers, place top 3 and get to walk across the stage is a feeling that I will never forget.  All of the state participants were so nice.  FBLA has taught me many new skills that I can take into the real world for my everyday life.  Qualifying for nationals has without a doubt been an incredible moment in my life and I'm so glad that I chose to participate.”
