HHS Students Compete in Business and Technology Event

On Tuesday, April 16 th , Holston High School business students traveled to Southwest Community College for the 48 th annual Business and Technology event. Students were
tested, created projects, and made business presentations to show off their skills in a competition that involved 120 other students from the counties of Tazewell, Dickenson,
Russell, Buchanan, and Washington. During the down-time when students were not involved in testing, they enjoyed listening to a motivational speaker who discussed the
importance of being timely and not procrastinating with their studies.
Five Holston High Juniors were asked for comments on the events for the day. Morgan C. said that, “Visiting SWCC gave us the opportunity to meet others. We learned about
responsibility, independence, and leadership.” Brandon P., Ashley J., and Chase T. all stated that the field trip was, “A great learning experience to help prepare us for our senior
year.” Chase also felt that the business testing environment was a good experience for him to be ready when he takes the SAT. Morgan W. added that she “Really enjoyed meeting
people from nine other FBLA clubs and having the opportunity to compete.”

The following students received awards for the contest:
o 1 st Place in Business Math – Morgan W.
o 2 nd Place in Business Math – Morgan C.
o 2 nd Place in Personal Finance – Brandon P.
