HHS Washington County Community Scholars Recognized
This year the Holston High School Class of 2018 had 24 participating scholars with an impressive overall GPA of 3.54. These 24 young men and women have performed and logged over 3,800 hours of service. Many of these scholars have distinguished themselves by going above and beyond the required service hours for the program...much like they do in their academic studies, much like they do in their sports teams, much like they do in their churches and community.
This small group’s selflessness has had a tremendous impact on the Damascus community. From doing yard work for the elderly to influencing the youth of Washington County through 4-H, GATE and Little League, this group’s service list is extensive and varied. What is most notable however, is their selfless initiative and leadership. These particular students are responsible for organizing and coordinating efforts that have helped numerous organizations such as Johnston Memorial Hospital, Marsh Blood Foundation, the Damascus Fire Department, the Damascus Library, the Washington County Fair Association, Grace Healthcare, the Creeper Trail Conservancy and the Holston River Soil and Water Conservation District, just to name a few.
