Greendale Elementary shows Officer TJ some love for School Resource Officer (SRO) Appreciation Day. Thanks for doing a great job keeping us all safe.

First grade students have been learning the digraphs "sh" and "ch." They used shaving cream to practice spelling words with these sounds. It was such a fun way to combine a sensory activity with our phonics lesson!

Families, we hope that you'll take advantage of this very timely and informative session being offered free of charge for all our families. Join via ZOOM tonight for the next session in our Mental Health Series The ABCs of Substance Use and Vaping!

Due to downed trees and power lines in some parts of the County, bus service will be delayed for some students as we reroute buses. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

GES will celebrate Virginia Kindness Week, February 12-16. Students will be doing random acts of kindness each day. As a schoolwide act of kindness, we will be providing personal care items for our neighbors at the Greendale Home.

Special Friends of "Mr. Bill" Mullins presented a plaque to the school on Friday in his honor and memory. It is displayed in the main hallway for all to see.

PTO meeting tonight at 6 p.m.
2nd/3rd Folk Dance Demonstration

Upcoming Read Across America events.

Fourth graders have enjoyed reading Charlotte's Web, our one book one school choice for this year. They've have participated in trivia questions pertaining to the book. They have also been exposed to some new vocabulary words that have been spun in webs located in the hallway.

Our fourth grade students will be putting their math skills to practical use by going on a shopping trip to the store! This activity provides a hands-on learning experience. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge of math concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to make real-life purchasing decisions.

See the attached flyer.

Abingdon Little League Baseball/Softball Registration is open!

Lacrosse Opportunity for Washington County Students:

Come out for the PTO Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. Our second and third grade students will be demonstrating folk dances. You might learn a new dance step!
